Let's Talk Twins

Twins: Minor League Monday (10/3)

This is the last ‘Minor League Monday’ of the 2022 MiLB season *insert sad face emoji*. The Minnesota Twins minor league system had a lot of success, and while none of them finished the way they’d hoped, the farm system finished with the seventh-best record in all of baseball.

Check to see who was this week’s ‘Top Performer.’

Top Performers:
AAA

Andrew Bechtold, C
3 Games, .364 BA (4/11), 2 HR, 4 RBI, 1 BB, 5 SO

  • Andrew Bechtold looked a lot better as the season progressed. We’ll see if he can carry over this success into 2023.
    • April: .196/.373/.333
    • May: .231/.302/.462
    • June: .197/.282/.289
    • July: .287/.347/.506
    • Aug.: .286/.394/.429
    • Sept.: .319/.405/.580

Simeon Woods-Richardson, #6, SP
1 Game, 1-0, 6.0 IP, 0.00 ERA, 1 H, 3 BB, 7 SO

  • Simeon Woods Richardson capped off his minor league year with a bang. He then went on to make his major league debut on Sunday and settled in nicely after a rough first inning. It’s easy to see him pitching in the Twins’ starting rotation for many years to come.

Randy Dobnak, SP
1 Game, 4.2 IP, 0.00 ERA, 1 H, 3 BB, 7 SO

  • It was a year to forget for Randy Dobnak. The 27-year-old only pitched in 11 games this season and wasn’t ever 100 percent. On the bright side, he did end the year on a high note and could potentially play a role out of the pen for the Twins next season.
AA

Brooks Lee, #1, SS
2 Games, .625 BA (5/8), 1 BB, 1 SO

  • Brooks Lee continues to impress at every level he’s played at. Don’t be shocked if he’s playing for the Twins at some point next season.
    • Rookie: 4 G, .353 BA, .353 OBP, .471 SLG, 3 RBI, 0 BB, 0 SO
    • High-A: 25 G, .289 BA, .395 OBP, .454 SLG, 4 HR, 12 RBI, 16 BB, 18 SO
    • Double-A: 6 G, .407 BA, .429 OBP, .444 SLG, 0 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 3 SO

Brent Headrick, SP
1 Game, 7.0 IP, 0.00 ERA, 3 H, 0 BB, 11 SO

  • What an ending to a great season for Brent Headrick. The 24-year-old ended the year with an ERA of 3.32 and a WHIP of 1.08 in 108.1 innings pitched. It’s likely he starts next year in Double-A and eventually finds himself pitching for the Saints at some point in 2023.
