The Minnesota Twins have their eyes on multiple pitchers
The Minnesota Twins need pitching. In an ideal world, they would add multiple starters and a few bullpen arms. However, it’s unrealistic to think like that, but the front office is showing interest in multiple pitchers.
KSTP’s Darren Wolfson joined the Mackey & Judd show on Skor North and reported that the Twins have expressed interest in Pablo López, Carlos Rodón, Luis Castillo, Tyler Mahle, Frankie Montas and Nathan Eovaldi.
Doogie went on to add this:
“I would say of every starting pitcher that the Twins have checked in on, Tyler Mahle, Cincinnati Reds, would be the guy that I would make the betting favorite.”
Wolfson reported that the Twins have talked to the Pittsburg Pirates, Washington Nationals, Cincinnati Reds, Detroit Tigers, Oakland Athletics, Kansas City Royals and Chicago Cubs.
“The most likely scenario is, they bring in at least one reliever.” “They’re working on bringing in a starter as well. They realize they need a starter.”
At the moment, David Robertson is at the top of their list. He’s 37 and is one of the best relievers available at the trade deadline. The price is likely a bit steeper than others because teams will be calling the Cubs about a trade.
Minnesota has been one of the most aggressive teams in the pitching market. The only problem is the Cleveland Guardians and Chicago White Sox have also been aggressive.
Other than adding guys to the rotation and the bullpen, the Twins need to ensure they’re doing more than their AL Central rivals.
