BREAKING: The Minnesota Vikings hire Kwesi Adofo-Mensah to be the next general manager
After completing their second interview with Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, the Minnesota Vikings have hired him to be the next general manager.
Last week it was reported that Minnesota narrowed its search down to Ryan Poles and Adofo-Mensah. However, the Chicago Bears have hired Poles, which left Adofo-Mensah as the clear front runner for the Vikings general manager position.
He was previously with the Cleveland Browns as the VP of football operations, which essentially meant he oversaw the day-to-day duties. This is an A+ hiring for the purple and gold.
Before working with the Browns, he was with the San Francisco 49ers working as the manager and director of Football Research and Development.
At 40 years old, he will bring a breath of fresh air to an organization in desperate need of a change. For the longest time, the Vikings were running an old school operation, but that should change under this new regime.
The first order of business for Adofo-Mensah will be finding a new head coach. It’s also entirely possible that he will make some changes elsewhere on the staff, namely Klint Kubiak.
Adofo-Mensah will win over a lot of Minnesota fans. There are numerous reports about his people skills and his brilliance.
It’ll be interesting to see what direction the Vikings head in after hiring Adofo-Mensah. Will they rebuild or retool? What kind of coaching staff does he want to work with? These questions will be answered pretty quickly.
