Predicting the Minnesota Timberwolves record for the remaining 23 games

The NBA season is almost over, and the Minnesota Timberwolves should be a lock to at the very least, make the play in. Let’s go ahead and predict the Wolves’ record for the remaining schedule.

  • 2/24: Memphis Grizzlies – L

Minnesota stacks up really well against the Grizz, and a win would even the score (1-2). Each contest comes down to the wire, but Memphis is rolling, and they should keep that momentum going after the All-Star break.

  • 2/25: Philadelphia 76ers – L

Minnesota stole a win against the 76ers back in November, and Philly will be looking for revenge. Plus, James Harden has a good chance of playing, and the Timberwolves foul a lot. Joel Embiid and Harden will probably be living at the line this Saturday.

  • 2/28: @ Cleveland Cavaliers – L

Size could be an issue, and the Cavs kicked Minnesota’s ass in December. I don’t see that changing this time around.

  • 3/1: Golden State Warriors – L

Minnesota has played the Warriors fairly well this season, but when fully healthy, Golden State is arguably the best team in the NBA.

  • 3/4: @ Oklahoma City Thunder – W

The Wolves finally end the losing skid against the Thunder. As long as they don’t take OKC lightly, this should be an easy game.

  • 3/5: Portland Trail Blazers – W

No Jusuf Nurkić, no Damian Lillard = W

  • 3/7: Portland Trail Blazers – W

*Same reasoning they win this game*

  • 3/9: Oklahoma City Thunder – W

Minnesota should complete the sweep as long as they play hard.

  • 3/11: @ Orlando Magic – W

Of the remaining 23 games, this is the one that I want the most. That Nov. 1 loss is still pissing me off because of how poorly the Timberwolves played. Please win this for my sanity.

  • 3/12: @ Miami Heat – L

Miami is the best team in the Eastern Conference, and Minnesota will be coming off a five-game winning streak. We all know how that ends up, don’t we Timberwolves fans?

  • 3/14: @ San Antonio Spurs – L

I wanted to mark this one down as a win, but the Timberwolves are on the road against Gregg Popovich.

  • 3/16: Los Angeles Lakers – W

COMPLETE THE SWEEP. The Lakers have struggled this season and they simply have no answers for the Timberwolves.

  • 3/19: Milwaukee Bucks – L

Minnesota came away with a surprise win in October against the Bucks, but this is a completely different team. If I was a betting man, and I am, I would put money on Milwaukee winning the championship this year.

  • 3/21: @ Dallas Mavericks – L

I do not understand how the Mavericks continue to win games, but Luka Dončić will be too much for the Timberwolves to handle on the road.

  • 3/23: Phoenix Suns – W

You have to add a surprise win somewhere, don’t you? The Suns are the best team in the NBA, but the Wolves have matched up well against them. Phoenix will be without Chris Paul, which should make things a little easier.

  • 3/25: Dallas Mavericks – W

Minnesota will be playing the Mavericks for the second time in the last five days. This one will be at home, probably in front of a full crowd, and the Timberwolves will need to pick up a big win for that sixth seed.

Bold prediction: I don’t think this game will be close.

  • 3/27: @ Boston Celtics – L

The Timberwolves shocked the NBA when they defeated the Celtics in December when their entire team had COVID-19. The Celtics are one of the hottest teams and were winners of their last nine games before falling to the Detroit Pistons.

  • 3/30: @ Toronto Raptors – W

The Raptors run a funky lineup and Minnesota struggled at times against their lengthy forwards. If fans attend this game, Minnesota may not win this one, but I like their chances.

  • 4/1: @ Denver Nuggets – W

The Timberwolves have taken care of business against the Nuggets this season, and this game will likely have high stakes. Both teams are fighting for the sixth seed, and this game may seal the deal for the Wolves.

  • 4/3: @ Houston Rockets – W

The Rockets just want the season to end, and I don’t see them putting up much of an effort.

  • 4/5: Washington Wizards – W

The same goes for the Wizards, who will be without Bradley Beal. After a hot start, Washington has looked pretty bad.

  • 4/7: San Antonio Spurs – W

If the Spurs have a chance at the 10th seed, this game may get a little chippy. The Timberwolves are just a better team, and shouldn’t have much trouble here.

  • 4/10: Chicago Bulls – L

As much as I’d love for the Timberwolves to end the season on a win, the Bulls are too much for Minnesota to handle.

There are a lot of back-to-backs with the remaining games, and that worries me a bit. They also have some easy stretches, but some that are going to be a bit challenging.

Minnesota is a team that goes on runs, and it’s likely we see that a lot with the final 23 games.

Prediction: 13-10
Overall: 44-38
